Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Is fiber cement board suitable for bathrooms?
Yes, it is frequently used as a substrate in wet areas, provided it is installed correctly and waterproofing is applied where necessary.
Can I put laminate flooring over fiber cement?
Yes. Fiber cement provides a rigid support for floating floors such as laminate, provided that the insulation layer/foil and flatness are respected.
Can I lay tiles directly on the slab?
In many cases, yes, but it depends on the system: flexible adhesive, substrate preparation, joints, reinforcement/grouting of joints, and compliance with expansion requirements. For large tiles, flatness and rigidity are essential.
What thickness should I choose: 18 or 22 mm?
18 mm is a very good choice for residential and light/medium finishes. 22 mm offers greater rigidity and is preferred when you have heavier traffic, a larger support step, or want extra reserve.
