For the modular houses offered by Rainzcube, we take inspiration from the standard sizes of shipping containers to ensure quick transportation and assembly, but as mentioned above, our houses are not made from reused shipping containers. The structures are actually metal constructions created from scratch, from galvanized profiles and sandwich panels, but we maintain the dimensions of shipping containers to facilitate the transportation and installation process.
1. Typical dimensions used
The most common dimensions used in modular construction are:
- 6 meters long, 2.44 meters wide and 2.59 meters high (corresponding to the dimensions of a standard 20-foot sea container).
- 12 meters long, 2.44 meters wide and 2.59 meters high (the equivalent of a 40-foot sea container).
These dimensions are used because they allow an optimization of interior space and efficient transportation. However, as our structures are customized, they can be modified according to the client's needs. For example, houses can be built taller, using the "high cube" dimensions which add about 30 cm to the height (2.89 meters), creating a more generous interior space.
2. The flexibility of modular design
Another advantage of using these standard sizes is that the modules can be combined and arranged in different configurations, offering maximum design flexibility. For example, you can create a multi-room house by joining several 6 or 12 meter modules together, or you can build a two-story house by stacking them on top of each other.
While these standard sizes are the most common, Rainzcube offers customized solutions to fit the specific needs of each project. So if your home design calls for unconventional sizes or shapes, we can adjust them to your preferences while still maintaining the efficiency and functionality of the module.
